Ford's Escape Hybrid SUV has great fuel efficiency
It gets a respectable 30 miles to the gallon in the city and 34 miles to the gallon on the highway. There is also an all-wheel drive version available and it averages 27 miles/gallon in the city and 29 miles/gallon on the hghway, with the benefit of all-wheel drive, isn't that what the point of a SUV is?
The Hybrid Escape has a 2.3 liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine along with a pair of electric motors, creating an output of 155 horsepower.
Inside, the new Ford Escape Hybrid features several important improvements over last years model. The dash and instrument panel have a new look with cool ice blue lighting. The optional gps unit is now powered by a DVD system, allowing up to date changes to be loaded. Along with the hybrid theme, the upholstery is now 100 percent recyclable, making it greener than ever. Optional features include heated leather seats, moonroof, touch screen GPS and several other features.
The rear seat folds into a 60/40 configuration, and with the seat completely folded down it offers 67 cubic feet of storage.
Interior Safety comes standard with front seat side airbags and head curtain airbags with rollover sensing included.
The base price of the Ford Escape Hybrid is $26,500 and $28,250 for the all wheel drive version of the hybrid.
